Update from our Philippines Home

June 2018

We have graduates! In the Philippines, the school year is wrapping up, and several of our girls reached major milestones. 3 of our girls graduated high school and 2 graduated college, and we couldn’t be more proud of each of them. All 3 of our high school graduates are college-bound now, and they’re setting themselves up for a bright future.

In May, we had new rescues! We’re still getting details in about the rescue, but there are two girls who are currently staying at a church nearby because they suspected that somebody was attempting to kidnap and traffic them. Their father died last year during a drug bust, and they were left living alone in their home. A woman came to the house and claimed that their father owed her money and that the two girls needed to come work for her in order to pay the debt. They refused, and as soon as she was gone, the girls left the home to take refuge in the church. We’re proud of them for recognizing the signs and tactics of traffickers! Our outreach teams have gone out into high-risk areas and have taught people about the tactics traffickers use to lure and kidnap their victims and how to respond to that. We’re glad to see that what we are doing is working! The girls avoided the traffickers and are now safe from harm.
